What is aquaponics?
Aquaponics is the sustainable symbiosis of fish farming (aquaculture) and plant cultivation (ponics). It is a closed ecosystem that mimics the natural cycles of nature. Instead of breeding fish in a separate tank and growing plants in conventional soil, we combine the two in a single, efficient system.
The circulatory system
The principle is as simple as it is ingenious:
The fish: We grow tilapia in our tanks, which we supply with high-quality, sustainable feed. The fish produce feces that are rich in nutrients.
The bacteria: Special bacteria in the filter system convert the fish faeces into plant-available nutrients.
The plants: The nutrient-rich water is directed to the plants, which absorb the nutrients through their roots.
Cleaning: While the plants absorb the nutrients, they purify the water at the same time. The clean water is then returned to the fish – the cycle is closed.
This system allows us to produce food in a natural, resilient ecosystem with over 90% less water consumption than conventional agriculture. Without pesticides, without antibiotics.

Our plant in Munich is a living example of urban agriculture.
On an area of just 150 m², we produce fresh tilapia and a wide range of seasonal vegetables and herbs all year round.
Fish Tanks: The fish tanks are the centerpiece. Here, our tilapia grow in a controlled, stress-free environment.
Plant beds: The beds are specially designed for aquaponics, so that the plants can absorb the nutrients optimally.
Monitoring system: An intelligent monitoring system ensures that all parameters (temperature, pH value, nutrient content) are always in the optimal range.
